If you are suffering from a sudden toothache or oral pain, there is a good chance that you may have a cavity, and if this is the case, Dr. Ema recommends that you receive a tooth filling. Tooth fillings are used to fill in the small holes in the teeth formed by tooth decay, and ensure that no further damage is done to the structure of the teeth. They restore your teeth to a functional shape and strength and will remove the pain you may feel when eating and drinking. Ignoring a cavity can lead to painful and sometimes serious infections, so when the pain begins, it’s best to receive a filling right away.
At Printers Row Dental Studio, we offer our patients tooth-colored fillings in which the material the tooth filling is made out of will match the color of your teeth for a natural appearance. Because every person’s teeth are different, Dr. Ema offers fillings made from several different materials, including glass or an acrylic resin for composite fillers, or resin ionomer-made fillers. However, glass or acrylic resin fillers are fragile and are usually used for smaller areas that need fillers. During your consultation with Dr. Ema, she will assess the sections in your teeth that need filling and make a recommendation on what material is best to use.
Fillings can also be used to repair broken, chipped, or cracked teeth and Dr. Ema may recommend fillings to restore a damaged tooth.
What to expect during your visit
During your visit to get a tooth filling, the area around the tooth will be numbed so there is no pain. Then the decayed sections of the tooth are removed and the area is cleaned, and the cavity is filled with material chosen for the filling. At Printers Row Dental Studio, we stand behind our high-quality work, and our trained team of dental experts will give you the best care.
